그는 흥(興)하여야 하겠고 나는 쇠(衰)하여야 하리라 하니라.(요한복음3:30)

위로부터 오시는 이는 만물 위에 계시고 땅에서 난이는 땅에 속하여 땅에 속한 것을 말하느니라. 하늘로서 오시는 이는 만물위에 계시나니(:31)[그가 그 보고 들은 것을 증거 하되 그의 증거를 받는 이가 없도다.:32]

예수의 제자를 삼고 세례(洗禮)를 주는 것이 요한보다 많다 하는 말을 바리새인들이 들은 줄을 주께서 아신지라.(요한복음4:1)[(예수께서 친히 세례를 주신 것이 아니요 제자 들이 준 것이라.:2]

여호와여 주께서 내 영혼을 음부에서 끌어내어 나를 살리사 무덤으로 내려가지 않게

하셨나이다.(시편30:3)

주는 나의 반석과 산성이시니 그러므로 주의 이름을 인하여 나를 인도 하시고 지도 하소서(시편31:3)

어리석은 자를 슬기롭게 하며 젊은 자에게 지식과 근신함을 주기 위한 것이니(잠언1:4)[지혜 있는 자는 듣고 학식이 더할 것이요 명철한 자는 지략을 얻을 것이라:5]

그들이 가서 산에 이르러 따르는 자가 돌아가도록 사흘을 거기 유하매 따르는 자가 그들을 길에서 두루 찾다가 만나지 못하니라.(여호수아2:22)

그 두 사람이 돌이켜 산에서 내려와 강을 건너 눈의 아들 여호수아에게 나아와서 그 당한

모든 일을 고하고(:23)

또 여호수아에게 이르되 진실로 여호와께서 그 온 땅을 우리 손에 붙이셨음으로 그 땅의 모든 거민이 우리 앞에서 간담(肝膽)이 녹더이다.(:24)

빈부가 섞여 살거니와 무릇 그들을 지으신 이는 여호와시니라.(잠언22:2)

네가 만일 탐식 자여든 네 목에 칼을 둘 것이니라.(잠언23:2)

그들의 마음은 강포를 품고 그 입술은 잔해(殘害)를 말함이니라.(잠언24:2)
