My name is Daniel. I was an English teacher in Seoul, South Korea, and am now a writer who has

published three books including South Korea: Our Story by Daniel Nardini.

Former South Korean President Park Geun-hye's legal team quit because they

said that Park cannot get a fair trial and that she has been held in detention and has been mistreated by

the current government. With the fact that no hard evidence and a lot of questionable testimony has NOT

shown any criminal intent of Park actually ordering Choi Soon-sil of trying to shake down people for money

or preferential treatment may be a case in point that the trial may in fact be more of an act of revenge

than a justice trial. What is even more troubling is that the current government is going after former

South Korean President Lee Myung-bak. Apart from the fact that both Park and Lee are conservative,

they did not personally get along with each other. Again, the current government is justifying what it is

doing in the name of "fighting corruption." Sadly, that is a very vague and extremely political loaded

term. in related news, "North Korean" leaflets have been found in various parts of the country and even

in Seoul including near the Blue House. I have to ask myself the question of whether they are really

"North Korean" leaflets, or maybe leaflets distributed by the South Korean political left?! My feeling

is that this is all South Korean leftist revenge for the fact that former President Roh Moo-hyun

committed suicide because of an anti-corruption probe against him and for the fact that the fact

that the political left lost two elections in a row until recently? Even then I have to question the most

recent election as a kind of coup against Park. Here is the danger; someday the conservatives might

come back to power. The Korean political left thinks it can remain in power, but its efforts to

stay in power like the political left in Venezuela will only ruin the country. If the conservatives come

back to power, they will exact the same revenge against the Korean left. The danger here is that

Korean politics will degenerate into a free-for-all fight where the winner will take all.
